Some of my absolute favorite holiday memories have been made with a cup of tea, cozy blanket, and a charming movie alongside my loved ones. Watching traditional holiday films each year feels a lot like coming home again. Although life changes over time, the stories these films tell are everlasting — they’re just the same as they were when I fell in love with them years ago. Here are a few romantic holiday movies for you and your loved ones to enjoy this season!
Romantic Holiday Movies
1. The Holiday
Oh goodness, this movie is charming (as demonstrated by Jude Law below!) It takes place in both England (featuring a beautiful cottage home right out of Thomas Kinkade painting, nonetheless!) and Los Angeles. In the film, two women (Kate Winslet & Cameron Diaz) trade homes for a few weeks and find love along the way.
2. While You Were Sleeping
While You Were Sleeping has been one of my favorite movies for as long as I can remember. The story follows Lucy who rescues her crush, Peter, from an oncoming train. When Peter goes into a coma at the hospital, Lucy meets his family and they assume she is his fiancée. It’s the perfect mix of sweet, silly, and heartwarming!

3. It’s A Wonderful Life
“You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down.” What could be more romantic? Watching It’s A Wonderful Life has become a holiday tradition all around the world. It’s a beautiful reminder of how truly ~wonderful~ life is and the difference we can all make in each other’s lives ❤️

4. Little Women
Could the wintery scenes in this film be any more dreamy?! This beloved story is always so fun to revisit during the holidays. The soundtrack is absolutely lovely as well! P.S. Who else can’t wait for the new version with Emma Watson and Meryl Streep coming to theaters next year?!
5. Serendipity
Serendipity: an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident. This love story begins in a department store at Christmastime when John Cusack’s character (who reminds me so much of Lloyd Dobler in Say Anything!) and Kate Beckinsale’s character meet while holiday shopping. Their love story has countless twists and turns and of course, a happy ending ❤️
